On our self drive walking holidays you choose exactly when, where and for how long you wish to go.
Before you depart, we will consult closely with you to ensure that your walking holiday exactly matches your requirements.  We have a wide range of itineraries available ranging from introductory through to very challenging walking in the beautiful Axarquia. Routes vary from easy half day walks to 7 hour walks involving up to 3,000 feet ascents so the choice is wide. 

Andalucia in the South of Spain is one of the best walking areas in Europe – it simply cannot be rivaled for variety of scenery, climate, spectacular mountains, history, culture and some of the most interesting flora and fauna to be found anywhere in the world.  And if you prefer to intersperse your walking with some cultural visits, why not take one of our optional excursions for example to the beautiful Alhambra at Granada?

How our Self-Drive Walking Vacations Work

• Arrival and pick up your rental car at Malaga airport and transfer to Torrox Pueblo where you will be met by our local guides
• Settle into your accommodation before your orientation tour
• Our local guides will spend time with you at the beginning of your vacation to discuss the details of your itinerary and to answer all your questions including a orientation tour of the village during which they will point out the many varied restaurants & bars in Torrox
• We provide detailed route descriptions for each day’s walk in waterproof covering, detailed maps and a compass
• Our guides will be available throughout your vacation in case of emergencies and to answer any questions that may arise

What’s included in the price of our Self-Drive Vacations

• Car rental from Malaga Airport for the duration of your stay (see car rental terms below)
• Initial briefing with our local tour guides
• Accommodation in your own traditional and comfortable village house with all facilities including washing machine, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, fridge, fully equipped kitchen, TV/DVD/Video and rooftop terrace!
• All linen provided included towels
• Breakfast is on a self catering basis and we provide a welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee cereal, bread, butter, cheese, eggs, bacon, fruit, fruit juice, water (subject to change)
• Full information pack (one per party) to include compass, walk descriptions, maps and map holder, and guidebooks where appropriate
• Your day-to-day arrangements clearly laid out in a personal itinerary including details of local restaurants and bars
• Guided orientation walk round the village with your hosts pointing out location of restaurants & bars, banks (including those with cash dispensers), post offices, tourist information office, telephone kiosks, police station, 24-hour emergency clinic, pharmacies and internet cafes
• The use of a Spanish mobile phone to enable you to keep in contact in case of emergencies

CAR RENTAL TERMS:

INCLUDED: Comprehensive insurance/CDW(no excess)/Third Party Liability/All taxes and airport fees/2 additional drivers/Unlimited mileage//

NOT INCLUDED: Petrol/parking/traffic fines/Garaging/Impounding fees

PAYABLE LOCALLY: Petrol (car is delivered with a full tank of petrol and then return empty)

Please note that damage to the undercarriage, windscreen/glass/tires/wheels are not covered under insurance

NO REFUNDS FOR UNUSED PETROL

ABOUT THE INSURANCE: The supplier provides fully comprehensive insurance with no excess liability. However, if you are found to be driving negligently (drink or drug driving), and you are involved in an accident, you will be responsible for any damage incurred to the vehicle. Comprehensive insurance does not cover any damage done to the types, wheels, windscreen, wing mirrors, and undercarriage of the car, nor loss of the coded keys. This is standard in the car hire industry. For this type of damage, you can purchase supplemental insurance before leaving home.

EXCESS LIABILITY: There is none.

FUEL POLICY: The car is provided with a full tank of petrol. You will be expected to pay for that petrol upon arrival with a credit card. The petrol charge varies depending on the size of the car you hire. Generally, the charge is from €40 - €75. The car is then returned empty. There are no refunds for unused petrol.

EXTRA DRIVERS: Two additional drivers are permitted. There is no charge for those drivers.
